Operation Canine & Co. Frequently Asked Questions

  • Sessions are fully customized to your dog’s specific goals. We offer a layered approach to ensure skills generalize in real-world settings by training in your home, at local parks for socialization and distraction work, at our private residence, or at select structured locations.

    • Initial Intake: These run up to 2 hours per dog to allow for a thorough evaluation and foundational coaching.

    • Standard Sessions: Typically last between 45 and 60 minutes.

    • Basic Obedience: Most clients achieve their goals in 4 to 6 sessions, though this depends on your dog’s starting point and your own consistency.

  •  We provide in-home training within a defined radius. Travel fees are calculated at $0.67 per mile, and exact pricing is provided during your consultation for full transparency.

  • We specialize in creating boundaries and clarity for high-drive dogs using balanced training, NePoPo, and marker-based communication. Rather than suppressing behavior, we use structured routines to teach dogs how to regulate themselves.

  • Absolutely. We focus on "rehabilitating" the training experience by stripping things back to the fundamentals, rebuilding trust through fair communication, and focusing heavily on handler education.

  • We recommend starting as early as 6 to 10 weeks old. Starting early with our STAR puppy class helps prevent problem behaviors and builds a foundation for impulse control and engagement.

  • Beyond standard obedience, we provide guidance for:

    • Psychiatric Support: Grounding and interruption behaviors.

    • Medical Response: Foundation work and shaping alert behaviors.

    • Mobility & Public Access: Mobility foundations and public access preparation.

Note: Our head trainer is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and can approve your pup for specific needs.

  • Success depends on your involvement. You should expect to practice for 15–30 minutes a few times a day and integrate training into your everyday routines.

  • We prioritize transparency so you are never left guessing. You will receive detailed progress breakdowns, scheduled check-ins, and clear homework assignments.

  • Yes. We encourage clients to reach out via text or email if they hit a roadblock. We even strongly encourage you to send us videos of your homework so we can confirm you are on the right track.

  • For the safety of all dogs, participants must be:

    • Up-to-date on core vaccines (Rabies, DHPP).

    • Free of contagious illnesses, parasites, or open wounds.

    • Dogs with an aggression history require a specific discussion before placement.

  • All clients must complete a Discovery Call and formal evaluation before purchasing a session or package. This ensures we create a tailored plan that offers the right program placement for you and your dog.

    • Sessions: Advance notice is required to reschedule; missed sessions without notice may be forfeited.

    • Board & Train: Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferable depending on the circumstances.
